The
objective of our research program is to
develop useful catalytic molecular
transformations at mononuclear and dinuclear
metal centers tailored exclusively for a
specific transformation. The reactions of
interest to us are the activation and
utilization of heteroallenes and related
compounds, group transfer reactivity of high-valent
nitrene and carbene functionalities in
weak-field ligand environments, activation
of C-H bonds, and synthesis of new energetic
materials. In addition to the catalyst
development, we are fascinated with ligand
design and the ensuing reactivity of the
resulting metal complexes.
Specifically, we are exploring how the
cooperative reactivity of bimetallics can be
controlled via a dinucleating ligand design.
We are also investigating the chemistry of
low-coordinate first-row transition metal
complexes in a bis(alkoxide) environment and
studying their stoichiometric and catalytic
